In 1954 Cy DeCosse won a Fulbright fellowship to study in Florence, Italy. He has returned year after year to photograph this city that has become his muse. One reviewer wrote of Cy’s platinum photographs of Florence:
"DeCosse probes the city that he knows so well – poking into the studios of artist friends, arranging still lifes of fruit and ornaments, making portraits, studying the rustic gates that separate the city’s private and public realms. His photographs are intimate, leisurely and insightful."
